A WORD FROM THE UNIC JAKARTA DIRECTOR

Selamat Datang. Welcome to the United Nations Information Centre (UNIC) in Jakarta, your bridge between Indonesia and the United Nations. This website gives you an overview of the Centre's activities, and links you to the global UN system. It's a bridge designed to go two ways: to discover the UN in Indonesia, as well as
to find out about Indonesia's initiatives at the United Nations.

If you are reading this, you probably already know that the work of the United Nations covers many forms of human endeavour: peace and security, economic and social development, humanitarian affairs, human
rights, international law.

Precisely because the scope of the UN’s work is so vast, finding information about a specific activity of the United Nations can sometimes be difficult. Our Center is here to help students, researchers, members of the media and of civil society to find the information they need, when they need it. We are also here to link you
with information, and contact persons, for the UN agencies, funds and programmes that operate in Indonesia.

UNIC Jakarta is a proud member of the UN Department of Public Information (DPI) network of 63 United Nations Information Centres around the world - connecting the United Nations with the people it serves. Our mission is “to promote an informed understanding of the  work of the United Nations among the peoples of the world.”

We are happy to be able to join us online. At the moment we are occupying a temporary offices, but will maintain public access to our library services. We hope to soon be able to restore academic and NGO visits to our Centre. Keep checking this site for updates.  For further information about the Center, and the services we provide, please call Mr. Adila Arief, on 021 3983-1013 or by email at adila.arief@unic-jakarta.org.
